“The Strathspey King” is a name forever linked to James Scott Skinner, arguably Scotland’s greatest performer and composer of traditional Scottish music. Born in the picturesque town of Banchory on Royal Deeside in 1843, Skinner also spent many years living on the banks of the River Spey, where he dedicated tunes to Scotland’s national drink and published his celebrated Elgin Collection of original compositions.
Each bottle sold has a donation going to the Strathspey King Memorial Fund to erect a life size bronze statue of James Scott Skinner in his home town of Banchory.
