Hopetoun Estate Whiskies are labeled with Midhope Castle. The castle was originally built before 1480. It lies in the heart of Hopetoun Estate near Edinburgh, Scotland. Hopetoun have been the Hope family’s ancestral home for 350 years and the 6,500 acre estate long supplied premium barley to Scotland’s whisky industry.

Midhope was acquired by John Hope in 1678 and in 1710, Sir Robert Sibbald described “Medhope” as a fine tower house with excellent gardens, one of the seats of the Earl of Hopetoun.

The castle holds national importance in Scotland as one of our Category A listed buildings. It continues to inspire as a film location for TV series Outlander, which has given it worldwide fame.
